About · Savannah, Georgia

It started with a 110-year-old dry cleaner.

Before Maai Designs had a name, it had a job: help one of Savannah's oldest family businesses get found again. Everything we do today grew out of that work.

The origin story

A century-old business doesn't survive on luck. It survives on craft, on relationships, and on showing up every day — through wars, recessions, and every new way customers decide where to take their business. But when we sat down with a 110-year-old family dry-cleaning business here in Savannah, one thing had quietly broken: the internet had moved, and the business hadn't moved with it.

Customers weren't driving past the sign anymore. They were asking Google. They were starting to ask AI. And what Google and AI said about a business with a hundred and ten years of reputation was thin, outdated, and in places just wrong.

So we rebuilt the whole web presence — the website, the Google Business Profile, the photos, the content, the structure underneath that search engines and AI tools actually read. Nothing flashy. Just careful work, done completely, and then kept up month after month.

It worked. And it taught us the lesson the rest of Maai Designs is built on: most small businesses don't need a marketing department or another subscription. They need one partner who takes care of the whole picture — and keeps taking care of it. That's what we now do for small businesses everywhere: beautiful websites, a presence that's accurate everywhere customers look, and practical AI applied where it genuinely helps.

The name

Maai (間合い)

Maai is a word from Japanese martial arts. It names the thing masters control that beginners can't even see: the interval — distance and timing, held exactly right.

It's how we think about design. Not louder, just better placed. The right element, at the right distance, at the right moment — and the confidence to leave space around it. It's why our pages breathe, and why this one does too.

How we work

Small by design, serious by habit.

We're not trying to become an agency with account managers between you and the work. The way we're built is the point.

Small by design

We keep the client list short on purpose. Every business we take on gets real room — which is exactly what makes the work good enough to keep for a decade.

Senior attention, every account

The person who designs your presence is the person who maintains it. No hand-offs to a junior team, no ticket queue, no explaining your business twice.

Systems, not memory

Every site, profile, and monthly task runs on documented systems — so nothing about your presence depends on someone remembering. It gets done because it's built to get done.
